Dra Andrea Stone - Veterinarian
Dra Andrea Stone is our Hispanic associate who was born in Florida to two veterinarians, Dr. Ronald Stone and Dra. Rosa Cedeño.
Dra Stone was raised speaking Spanish and English and enjoyed spending her childhood free time working in her family's veterinary trauma and medical center. Dra. Stone officially decided to follow in her parents' steps (as well as those of her maternal great-grandfather) when she turned three years old and was gifted a beautiful Great Dane puppy named Bruno.
Dra Stone obtained her degree in Animal Science from Cornell University in 2016. Dra Stone then moved to the island(s) of St. Kitts and Nevis to earn her doctorate of veterinary medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Unsurprisingly, it only took Dra. Stone a week into her first semester of veterinary school to foster and adopt her K9 best friend, Kendrick, a coconut retriever named after her favorite musician, Kendrick Lamar.
After completing her clinical year rotations at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019 Dra Stone and Kendrick (Kenny) moved to Houston, Tx. where she completed an Emergency and Critical Care specialty internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists.
Having grown quite fond of living in Houston, Dra. Stone decided to stay in the area and spent the year following her internship working as an emergency and inpatient physician. It was during this time that Dra Stone became Fear-Free certified and also rescued a puppy that had been found on the side of the highway with a rubber band wrapped around her tail. Daisy Rose and Kendrick made fast friends and together they do a great job of accompanying their mom to work and on long road trips.
Dra Stone eventually transitioned to working as a relief veterinarian for various hospitals around Houston, which is how she came to find Lakeside Animal Clinic. It was quickly evident to Dra Stone that Lakeside Animal Clinic had a great deal to offer to its patients, their owners, and the team of people caring for them. Dra Stone officially joined the Lakeside family in January 2021.
Dra. Stone has a passion for client education and hopes her patients' owners always feel comfortable asking questions or for clarifications. In regards to her professional interests, Dra. Stone is keen on surgery, diagnostic work-up and treatment, and multimodal approaches to the management of chronic conditions (i.e. integrative medicine). As far as her interests outside of the profession, she enjoys yoga, traveling, martial arts, volleyball, meditation/mindfulness practices, and exploring Houston with her dogs and friends.
